FFCA organized US Custom New Regulation: "24-hour Advanced Manifest" Seminar

"U.S. Customs 24-hour Advance Manifest - Regulations and Solutions" Seminar, organized by FFCA, supported by The Hong Kong Sea Transport Association, The Hong Kong Shippers' Council, Hong Kong Association of Freight Forwarding and Logistics, Hong Kong Logistics Association and DigiLogistics.com Limited, has successfully been held on January 17, 2003 at Hong Kong Productivity Council with over 100 participants attended the seminar.

In the seminar, the guest speakers, Chairman Alfred Tsao from The Hong Kong Sea Transport Association and Executive Director Sunny Ho from The Hong Kong Shipper¡¦s Council, had shared their views on the Container Security Initiatives (CSI) and Automated Manifest System (AMS) issues. Both of the speakers stressed that the new U.S. Customs regulations would be strictly enforced starting on February 1, 2003 without any extension on the grace period nor exemption on any excuse. They expressed that Hong Kong freight-forwarders and relevant parties must act immediately to comply with this new situation, before it is too late.

After the guest speakers session, Executive Vice President Lawrence Yip from DigiLogistics.com Limited and our Chief Consultant Philip Lam had introduced the solution to comply with the ¡§24-hour advance manifest¡¨ rule.
